Looks like Tom noticed by the new post on the front page.
I think that it is a nice cause and all, and when I made a joke about there being no electricity in Africa, well, it was exactly that, a joke. (Seems Tom noticed that to, but in usual fashion took it too literally.) Of course I know they are not THAT technologically disadvantaged. I may be a deranged prick who loves a good stereotype, but I would never actually take such ignorance to heart. I hope most others can say the same.
However, I simply think what the people of the less fortunate nations of Africa really need are things like an outlined economic recovery program, agricultural and farming development and a better health awareness agenda. I'd like to see the impoverished people of all those war-torn, famine riddled nations be brought into the 18th century before we try to skip them ahead directly to the 21st.
On the other hand, progress begins with communication. The ability to spread knowledge and ideas on a wide scale with great speed is the very foundation of our modern society. I suppose any help is still help and I'm sure the free laptops were a welcomed gift to the communities who received them.
I just hope the African children who got one don't become like American kids, flaming and spamming each other with hate messages calling one another fags because they didn't like someone's comment on a "Naruto" sprite flash. Hahaha.
In any case, thank you for bringing another noble cause to the forefront. If America is to live up to its image of a progressive nation which promotes sociological advancement we should all do our part to support anyone less fortunate than ourselves, even if that simply means spreading awareness of a charity without even taking part. Again, progress begins with communication.

With access to internet you can do anything now days. These laptops have the ability to get wireless internet transmissions and spread it throughout the whole Mesh Network the user is in. It can be a whole community inside just one network! The more of these laptops the more efficient it becomes. These laptops are a huge technological advancement to the developing communities obtaining this educational development.
